Unforgiven

English Bob: Actually, what I heard was that you fell off your horse, drunk of course, and that you broke your bloody neck.

Little Bill: I heard that one myself, Bob. Hell, I even thought I was dead 'til I found out it was just that I was in Nebraska.

    1. Wot? The joke was that being in Nebraska was tantamount to being dead.

Tantamount means virtually the same as.

      Virtually means practically or essentially.

"Bloody neck?" I don't know that one. What is a bloody neck? Did Little Bill have a bloody neck? And why did they call Richard 'arris "English Bob?" He talked funny (spoke oddly) but it may have been something else. It is a mystery.

    2. I guess all bobs were English back then. Before the new money.
