Great Depression Songs

Once I built a railroad, made it run,
Made it race against time.
Once I built a railroad, now it's done.
Buddy, can you spare a dime?

Once I built a tower to the sun,
Brick and rivet and line.
Once I built a tower, now it's done.
Buddy, can you spare a dime?

Once in khaki suits - gee, we looked swell!
Full of that Yankeedoodleedum!
Half a million boots went slogging through Hell,
And I was the kid with the drum!
Say, don't you remember, you called me Al?
It was Al all the time.
Say, don't you remember? I'm your pal!
Buddy, can you spare a dime?

  1. Not a lot of dimes spare these days...and there will be less now after Hurricane Sandy's devastating visit. I do empathise with everyone in Sandy's path who have been affected by it. The whole world will feel the effects of that storm; after all, New York City is the financial capital of the world. Live coverage was on all our TV channels here today...all morning into early afternoon, Down Under time.

  2. Mitt would say "Get a job, pull yourself together, make your own way! That's how to live the American dream!"

Just pass by on the other side! America deserves its judgement!
